Although I don't live in BC -- or even Canada for that matter-- I want to thank you for the comprehensive information on your website. I am hopeful that this information will help our family a great deal.

Thank you for putting together an excellent website!

Thanks for making your site user friendly. Many of my clients have limited literacy, English as a second language and difficulty concentrating from the PTSD.

Strides Winter Issue

From the E.D.’s desk

Here we are in 2010; we managed to get through another holiday season which has also marked the 10 year anniversary of AnxietyBC. We have asked for some input from others that have been involved with the organization in its early days to reflect on some of the challenges and milestones to get us to where we are today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that played a hand in developing this organization and how their foundation has played a key role in where we are at today.

As I’m gathering my thoughts looking out the window at the crocus flowers and flowering magnolia trees it’s hard to believe that I’m writing somethingforCrocusses in bloom the winter issue of Strides but I’m sure I can speak for many others in welcoming an early Spring at least in the Vancouver area.

2009 was a very productive year for us as our first DVD  titled “Separation Anxiety, a parents guide to helping your child” was completed, screened and we gave out almost 1000 copies to a variety of agencies and organizations with a Child and Youth focus across the province of British Columbia. We will have DVD’s offered for sale very soon as another order for copies has been placed. The ordering information

will be on the website as it becomes available. The next DVD with a focus on adult panic disorder is complete and we are just waiting to complete the cover design before making it available. There will be a trailer to watch posted soon. The next DVD project we are proposing will be with a child and youth focus once again dealing with social anxiety.

NEW: CBT SECTION TO BE ADDED TO OUR WEBSITE

We are in the final stages of adding some new content to the anxietybc.com website. We received funding last year from the Provincial Health Services Authority to increase the awareness and understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). This includes adding a new and exciting CBT section to our existing website. In this new section, you will learn what CBT is and important facts about CBT. It will also walk you through the steps three individuals took to overcome their specific difficulties with anxiety. In addition, you will see video testimonies of real-life individuals whose lives have been transformed by CBT. This section will also give tips on when professional help would be beneficial and how to find a qualified CBT therapist. We are very excited about this new section and proud to present all the hard work that went into it. The new CBT section will go "live" in the next few weeks.
